The Benefits of the 24 Hour Water Fast

Today we are going to speak about the benefit of the 24 hour  weekly  water fast. water-fasting-fountain-of-youthThe most recognized figure whom lived by this principle was Paul C. Bragg,  of the “Bragg’s Healthy lifestyle”.  His energy, strength, vitality and youthfulness give us clue’s that this is in fact a powerful way to optimize the function of the body. He left his physical body during an accident in his 90’s while surfing.

Although at first it can be a bit challenging as you create this as a weekly practice it becomes a joyous experience allowing you to fully rest and rejuvenate. We are giving our digestive system a break which is one of the best things we can do to improve the overall function of our digestive system and organ system.

When the body is given the time to heal it will do so. Digesting food takes so much life force so in order to allow the body to clean house it requires a break.  Often the belief is to take this product or food to heal the body, however I believe it is what we let go of that heals the body and what we cleanse out of our system that gives us back our radiance.  Expensive supplements can be beneficial however clean the body out first and then see how its vital life force returns without fail. I present you with the miracle of water fasting.

If we want better bowel movements it’s a great idea to water fast.  Each meal we take in should yield a bowel movement shortly there after.   If this is not happening you can be sure food is fermenting, putrifying and going rancid attracting, parasites, yeast, mold and fungus.  Cleaning out the bowels via water fasting will take care of this, simultaneously clearing the mind.

If we want our hormones to be working in harmony with us a water fast also helps to balance these out. If we are bombarded with toxins that mimic hormones we must flush them out. Giving the liver and other organs the opportunity to “catch up” in a sense and expel these toxins will reset the hormones.  A liver flush is also a wonderful adjunct to clearing toxins.

If we want great skin and clear eyes water fasting will give us this. At first there might be blemishes as the accumulated waste begins to flush out of the body but in time the blood and fluids in the body will become cleaner and the organs will function better.  In turn the waste will exit the kidney and bowel not the skin.

After this you can talk to your health practitioner about longer water fasts.  These will often reverse conditions in the body giving you a new lease on life. We are bombarded on a daily basis with toxins in our environment so keeping up thru a detoxification regime will give us a the purity to live our full potential this lifetime.

These longer fasts assist us to release unnecessary weight. When we water fast we are losing fat but also all the chemicals and toxins that were stored in the fat. The reason why so many people can not lose weight effectively is because of the toxins stored in the fat cells. The body is utilizing the fat as a protective measure to store these toxins. It isn’t until we release the toxins through a tool like water fasting that we can fully let go of the unwanted weight.  First and foremost there must be an internal shift in our mind’s eye or a healing that takes place that we no longer feel the need to protect ourselves with extra fat.  Once we adopt a healthy lifestyle of fresh pressed vegetable juices, and a whole food approach we can keep that weight off. Moving the body, communicating with love and forgiveness and keeping up a cleansing regime must be apart of this lifestyle to keep your weight at its natural state. What if someone is intending to gain weight? Water fasting also resets the system for those that are too thin. When the body is too thin it is also in an unbalanced state of dis-ease so fasting will assist to clear the toxins. Enzyme therapy coupled with water fasting can be a powerful approach here.  The enzymes work to go after any viruses or bacteria that might be hindering the immune system from working properly.

Some tips for implementing your 24 hour water fast:

  • Choose a day that you can rest as you desire.
  • Utilize Spring Water for the fast.

  • Fill your time with positive affirmations, vision board creations or art that you enjoy on this day.
  • Get on the earth to receive valuable earth frequencies for hormonal balance and regeneration.
  • Adopt a healthy whole food organic lifestyle prior to the fast so you have fewer detox symptoms.
  • Consider doing a castor oil pack on the large intestine or the liver for 1 hour with infrared heat to assist toxin removal.
  • Prepare & perform a coffee enema if you get a headache. This will assist the liver to flush out these toxins.

The Path to Lasting Wealth and Abundance

I propose that question to you.  What is the path to lasting wealth and abundance? As I journeyed off to the local farmer’s market this morning I was amazed at the abundance of fresh food surrounding me.

The Farmer’s Market Abundance

Our outer world is directly related to our inner world. Everything is connected. I just recently completed a 21 day juice, coconut kefir water and herbal tea fast supplementing with vitamineral green, chlorella and barley grass powders. I also included wild teas such as nettle, rose hips, chaparal & others.  High quality teas like gynostemma, dandy blend and he shou wu were extremely beneficial in supporting the immune system ( along with chaga tea). The more wild food & mineral rich  our food is the better our body will feel. These substances give our bodies more life and strength.

This fast was a wonderful experience of self growth, commitment, clarity, and a profound knowing that our inner world is directly related to what we experience externally. This holds true for our abundance as well. When we clean out the body and let go of the things that no longer service we  reset the body systems and allow for a healing to take place. If we let the body heal and rejuvenate on it’s own miraculous things happen within our mind, body and spirit. The energy around our body strengthens as well.  I feel like I just hit the reset button on my body.  My mind is very clear and strong. I have lots and lots of energy. At this point I have moved into green smoothies which consist of a little bit of fruit and alot of greens with some water and superfoods. Green smoothies are great way to ease back into food because they are broken down already so little work is done by the digestive system. The miracle of green smoothies is the fiber content and their ability to strengthen our natural hydrochloric acid so we may have the stomach acid to break down our foods properly.  Green smoothies are alkalinizing and are a great way to sweep the intestines after an extended fast. If one has an imbalance in their intestinal flora too much fruit will pose a challenge. It is a good idea to stick to green apples and possibly berries in smoothies otherwise candida can be an issue. A wonderful smoothie recipe for anyone would be something like this:

2 cups coconut kefir water (friendly bacteria)

1 cup of coconut meat

3/4 cup of berries

2 huge bunches of lettuce

1 tbs. barley grass powder – full of Nourishing vitamins including k

1 tsp. chlorella powder – Vital Nutrients and metal chelator – find the best source you can.

Blend all ingredients in your Vitamix and bam you have yourself and award winning super hero smoothie!

So as I went through this cleanse and experienced so many magical moments of synchronicity and inspiration I thought more deeply about the path to lasting wealth and abundance. Many people make money to lose it all shortly there after. Maybe they are not comfortable with the idea of making lots of money. To break through your glass ceiling or your barrier of whatever lies between you and your abundance is something worth pondering.  Abundance to me is to be fulfilling your life’s work, when all of the things required to fulfill your life’s work come into alignment and show up in your reality through people, places, experiences,  & clues this to me is true wealth.

In order to experience long lasting abundance the spiritual laws of money must be recognized and utilized. Another tool to utilize is before taking action be in the right state of mind. If you are feeling good and inspired chances are you are in alignment with your higher self and the Creator. This would be a wise time to take action. By working with energy and magnetism before you take right action things will flow a bit more effortlessly.  More is then accomplished and little effort is required. The Chinese Body Clock

Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night wondering why? I know I have. This actually happened to me last night.

As I was enjoying a deep slumber I was awakened around 3 am. I was up for one full hour! I usually don’t have issues sleeping at night however since I am fasting I thought to investigate this a little more. As I layed there twiddling my thumbs;) I asked myself what might be going on? And Voila, the answer came!!

A small amount of pain was present in my left lung. I have learned that in Traditional Chinese Medicine each hour is associated with a different organ. The lungs are associated with 3am-5am. And since I am fasting I was able to put two and two together! The lungs while fasting will work scavenging for scar tissue and work on healing at this time of night. The main reason for sleep is so the body can repair and restore itself. In this case it seems that my lungs were doing some deep cleaning;)

Thankfully I thought to give myself Reiki. Reiki is the universal life energy that flows through us. My Reiki attunements have given me the ability to harness that energy and give my body and other people & pets a treatment when required. I simply put my hand on that lung which had minor pain and it went away within minutes.

Traditonal Chinese Medicine reveals alot about our organs and their cycles. If you often find yourself up at night this might be a great clue to start cleaning house! If the body is not able get deep sleep it has a challenge repairing.

Connecting with our Organs.

As you see here in the chart the early hours of the morning are all about the stomach and intestines. This is why it is such a great idea to keep it light in the morning. Beginning your day with some clean water and lemon or perhaps a fresh pressed green juice. At this time the body is assimilating nutrients from yesterday’s meals. If the body is getting a bunch more food on top of that it will take away from the uptake of its work. When we keep it light we often find we have much more energy. The bowels will move in the morning if we drink plenty of fluids and flush out the system.

When our last meal is 3 or even 4 hours before bed we can get much better sleep. Having a bit of hunger in the stomach as you retire for the evening can be a very good thing. Try this instead of eating before bed and see the difference.

Another insight I have gathered through my research is that if you find yourself awaking alot between the hours of 1am-3am you might consider doing a liver/gallbladder flush. Please see my posts on an optimal flush and give your liver a chance to heal and restore.

Probiotic Liquid Fasting for Optimal Well Being

I recently completed an 8 day liquid fast. This fast is considerably different than any other that I have done. I feel it could benefit many because it is versatile, nutrient dense & safe for those with Candida. In fact, I feel it assists acid conditions in the body re colonizes the friendly flora in the intestinal tract.

I feel that a traditional juice fast, although it can be quite healing can actually feed candida if it is not properly balanced with plenty of greens and land vegetables. I am a huge advocate of fresh pressed juice with a high caliber juicer such as the Green Star Elite or the Angel Juicer which is stainless steel a juice feast is a lot of fun. It slowly presses the juice extracting as much of the nutrient value as possible while lessening oxidation with its slow gears.

What I have found is utilizing fresh pressed juices with land vegetables (not root veggies-sugar) green apples, lemons, limes, and tons of herbs, wild flowers, & dark greens like spinach etc will be an optimal combo for juicing.  If this is not a concern for someone and they are feeling strong with there intestinal flora then of course go for yummy root veggies like non-hybrid carrots, beets etc.  Green apples are some what sour so if you utilize these you won’t get the sugar rush to the pancreas. Also if someone has diabetes this might be an optimal fast program.

A sample juice might be:

Fresh Lemons with peel (only if organic with peel)

1 green apple

1 large or 2 small cucumbers

2 inches of ginger root

1 bunch spinach

1 bunch wild dandelion greens (usually growing in your backyard)

1/2 of a celery bunch

1 big piece of fresh Aloe leaf (loaded with nutrients like zinc, sulfur, selenium, magnesium, amino acids & enzymes)-blend this into the juice once peeled.

Another liquid I am enjoying and utilizing to rejuvenate my intestines and body is young coconut kefir water from green coconuts and friendly microorganisms. They really have a consciousness and once our body is flooded with billions of friendly microbes are whole outlook can really change on life and how we see things. Try it!

I also have incorporated fresh veggie broth into the fast. What I do is take Cabbage, Dark Greens(collards & kale), Lots of Sea Vegetables for their amazing nutrient content especially iodine, carrot with tops, beets with tops, garlic, 1 whole onion, 1/2 a celery bunch etc… and put into a big pot, fill with filtered or spring water to cover and let simmer for 30 minutes. Then let the broth sit for a while with heat off. Now you have a savory broth for your lunch/dinner meal. I choose to incorporate the kale & collards thru lightly simmering the broth instead of in my fresh raw green juice b/c raw kale & collards have been known to suppress the thyroid. So with a light steaming you still get nutrients just no effect on the thyroid.

If one has a desire or consumes meat you might try getting bones like grass fed red marrow bones and simmering these for 12-24 hours. Skim the fat off the top and enjoy that broth for its ability to nourish the digestive tract and heal the gut walls. The added benefit to a grass fed bone broth is its ability to rebuild collagen in the face and body. I believe it also assists with cellulite concerns. This is something Donna Gates recommends in The Body Ecology Diet.

Another option for your liquid fast are herbal teas. I enjoy mixing different herbs like Gynostemma tea, with Lycium, Schizandra & some vanilla bean. Then I might add Chanca Piedra for its ability to decalcify the liver and tissues. I simmer different herbs and create a decoction with the roots, stems & herbs.

Another tea you might try is one made from Nettle Leaf. The B vitamins and Protein in nettle is incredible not to mention its silica content. I like to take a glass jar and at night time fill 2 ounces of Nettle Leaf and an 1 ounce of the Root, then I might add some Rose hips and Astragalus.. I let that sit over night in water and then the next day I simmer it for just a bit then let it soak.  This is a beauty tea for sure! The whole body will get a chlorophyl rich treat from the nettle leaf. The hair and skin will shine.

As a sweetener for your tea you might try a high quality stevia. I like sweet leaf stevia. This will not be a challenge for those with candida. If candida is not an issue than try a local raw honey for the nutrient value & taste.

So through out the day I am enjoying, fresh pressed juices, young green coconut kefir water, broths, & teas. I am also incorporating other nutrient superfoods and cleansing products.

Dr. Shulze Intestinal formula 1 & 2: So awesome and wildcrafted/organic too! This will actually go in and pull any hardened mucoid plaque that is challenging to remove with just a green juice fast.

Health Force Nutritional’s Vitamineral Green: This product not only has greens and herbs from the land like Tulsi, Horsetail, Nettle, Barley grass, Dandelion leaf juice, Moringa but also Spirulina & Chlorella from the waters. It has tons of sea veggies, enzymes, shilajit & billions of friendly microbes! IT is hands down so awesome to incorporate in the fast for high energy.

Fasting is a great idea to clear blockages and heal the gut walls. I would suggest consulting with a health care practitioner if this is new for you.

My results were  wonderful with 8 days of liquid fasting.   My digestion and elimination has improved. If you eat 3 times a day that is how many bowel movements you should be having.  A good habit to get into is about 20 or 30 minutes after a meal go into the bathroom and prop your feet up on a small stool. Then lift your arms up  in the air. This will assist a bowel movement and is very similar to the effects of squatting which is a natural way to evacuate.  It should be easy and effortless. If not drink more healthy fluids and do a colon cleansing fast now:)  If we get into the habit of going into the bathroom and eliminating our bodies will retrain to make time for it. Otherwise life and activities take over and we find ourselves not digesting life! We get uptight or upset etc..

As we can digest, assimilate, utilize and absorb foods and get rid of the waste gracefully so too we can handle life in this way. We notice our ability to digest life and take what is good and eliminate what is no longer serving us.  I feel that 3 or 4, 7 day fasts per year will yield great results.

Enjoy! Once you have completed a colon cleansing fast you might consider a weekly 24 hour Water fast to maintain your work.  This way toxins do not accumulate as much and the digestive tract takes a break once a week. Try it with Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, some Herbal tea and Coconut Kefir Water….now the digestive tract is getting coated with probiotics and healing liquids.

Utilize Spring Water or the best water you can find free of plastics, chemicals and hardened mineral deposits. Too much calcium in the water cements the body and creates calcification.

Fresh Pressed Green Juices and Sun Herb Tea Fast

On May 10th I began an inspired hiatus from food and began a wonderful extravaganza of fresh pressed juices and sun herb teas made with green rooibos, horsetail and different medicinal herbs.

During this time the use of Aloe has been essential. You can simply cut the sharp points off and leave the skin on, then create your juice with plenty of greens and blend in your aloe gently to not disrupt the enzyme activity too much. Aloe as I have mentioned in other post’s is incredibly healing to the body.

I also am enjoying one enema every other day along with implants of either wheat grass or high integrity coffee (premiere research labs).  From there I enjoy probiotics in liquid form as well as other medicinal things like pressed tumeric and sea weed powders to re-mineralize after the enema experience.

I also feel magnesium baths are crucial to reinstill the mineral content of the body.  Drinking plenty of clean water with Raw Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar is enjoyable too.

Today my juice consists of fresh kale from the garden, cilantro, baby onions, garlic, tomatoes, celery, cucumber, tumeric and loads of love.  This tastes nice and reminds me of a savory meal.

This morning I enjoyed watermelon juice with aloe blended in to soothe my digestive tract after an enema and coffee implant. To learn more about coffee implants please go to Dr. Gerson’s website.

Exercise has been wonderful and today I went for a long walk up corral canyon in Malibu where I could enjoy uphill, sustained walking for an extended amount of time to stimulate the lymph.  There is plenty of wild food growing right there in the canyon to pick and enjoy for juicing such as: fennel, dandelion, edible flowers, aloe etc…

This hiatus from food will probably last 21 to 30 days depending on my body’s wants/needs.

Really what fasting from food does for me is give my body a chance to heal up and cleanse from years of unconscious living and eating.  Also it is a chance to connect deeply with spirit and all of my creativity seems bountiful right now.  I have many ideas flowing through which is spirit granting me access to the abundance, kindness, love, expansion, beauty, and receptivity that I already am.  “Access Granted.”   Aahhhh Yes,…a wonderful feeling to be grateful for this life and all the divine moments.

Sun, Ocean Waves crashing, Clean Air, Love, Joy, Peace….Life is all about Intention.
